Speakers

Tony FoordDR TONY FOORD CEng MIEE is a principal engineer of 4-sight Consulting and specialist in operational risk, reliability and functional safety. He has 35 years experience of control, monitoring and protection systems in the energy, nuclear, process, transport and utilities industries. His experience includes design, maintenance and operations management of oil and petrochemical processes; and more recently risk assessments of power stations and process plant. His current focus is on the interactions between safety systems and operators. [Top]

Colin HowardCOLIN HOWARD CEng FInstMC MInstP is an independent consultant with 35 years experience in Instrument, Control and Electrical Engineering, Quality and SHE Management. In his career he has been responsible for maintenance, control engineering, design, standardisation, supply chain development and development of the design process. He has worked in the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries for ICI and its successors, latterly with Eutech Engineering Solutions as a Senior Lead Consultant. His recent activities have been in the assessment and implementation of SHE management systems, risk assessments of process plant, the application development of IEC61508 and the introduction of the CASS scheme. A focus of this work has been the integrity and risk potential of control and protective systems and their interface with operating staff. [Top]

Bill_GullandBILL GULLAND CEng MIEE MInstMC is a principal consultant of 4-sight Consulting involved in preparation of safety cases for offshore installations and the independent assessment of safety -related systems and instrument-based protective systems. He worked for 13 years in the petrochemical industry for ICI, as a process control engineer, plant manager, and control systems commissioning engineer. In 1980 he joined the oil industry with BNOC / Britoil / BP Exploration, with whom he held various engineering and project management posts concerned with the support of existing offshore installations and the design and commissioning of new ones. He was particularly involved in the response to the Piper A disaster, and in a number of projects which employed high integrity protection systems (HIPSs). [Top]
